CRASH: Critical Care, Resuscitation, Advanced life support, Simulation and Skills training

The CRASH course provides essential skills in critical care, resuscitation and ALS for Medical Officers and Nurses for caring for emergency patients. The course is relevant to GPs/Rural Practitioners, Training Medical Officers/CMOs and Nurses working in the acute care, rural/remote environments or retrieval services.

CRASH combines online pre-learning with a two day skills/simulation workshop at LearnEM's Training Centre in Adelaide. The workshop features intensive small group training in procedural skills and clinical simulation in the assessment and recognition of serious illness, resuscitation, stabilisation and transfer of the critically ill, and team skills, communication and clinical leadership.

Procedural workshops include advanced airway management and cricothyrotomy, mechanical and non-invasive ventilation, difficult vascular access, cardioversion/pacing, ALS–CPR, neonatal resuscitation, communication and leadership.

Simulation is a major feature of the program, facilitating transfer of medical knowledge and procedural skills to the clinical care of the critically ill adult and child.
