EMET Program (SA)

Emergency Medicine Education and Training

The Emergency Medicine Education and Training (EMET) program is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health’s Specialist Training Program and provides education, training and supervision to doctors and other health professionals working in emergency departments and emergency care services – particularly in rural, regional and remote Australia – who are not specifically trained in emergency medical care.

South Australia has two EMET hubs delivering the program: Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) and the South Australian Postgraduate Medical Education Association (SAPMEA).

EMET Evening Workshops

Barossa, Mt Barker, Murray Bridge and Victor Harbor

Commencing February 2023 evening workshops (6 - 10 pm) will be delivered each month in Victor Harbor, Mt Barker, Barossa Valley and Murray Bridge. The program is funded jointly by the NAHLN and SAPMEA EMET hubs and will include an evening meal. There is no cost to attend the evening.

Who will be teaching the workshop ?

Clinical Lead for the program is Dr Peter Stuart, Director of Clinical Training for the BHFLHN.

A medical and nursing teaching team will be facilitating the evening workshops many of whom work clinically in the region in hospital medical practice, general practice, nursing or nurse practitioner roles.

Who can attend ?

Medical officers, General Practitioners, Nurses and Paramedics working are welcome to attend.

Registration is required and as numbers for each session are limited please book early to avoid disappointment.

Are the workshops Accredited for CPD ?

All participants receive an attendance certificate for 3 hours of CPD. Additional CPD hours may be obtained by completing of the workshop's online prelearning.

All of the workshops will be accredited as a CPD activity with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and Australian College for Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
